Why do you choose to participate in the ITS World Congress and the Nordic Pavilion?
The ITS World Congress is a large, important and future oriented event visited, amongst others, by policy makers and other government officials involved in traffic management and digital transport. For Sensys Gatso it is a good opportunity to meet potential clients. With our slogan ‘Making Traffic Safer’, improving road safety is our core business. The Nordic countries have enviable road safety statistics and are all among the best in class on a global level. Moreover, Sweden is the architect of Vision Zero, a very successful road safety strategy that has spread all over the world. As a Swedish company, working closely with The Swedish Transport Administration, we are proud to be able to contribute to the execution of that strategy.
What are your primary expectations from ITS WC?
We hope to spread awareness to public visitors about how we can contribute and collaborate with them to improve road safety, the urban environment, and the standard of living in cities. Low-emission environmental zones are for example a concept that contributes to an improved urban environment. The zones make it possible for the cities to regulate the type of vehicles that may stay in the cities.
What role do you like ITS Sweden to play during the congress?
It would be very helpful if ITS Sweden participates and introduces us to visiting government delegations that are interested in improving traffic safety and quality of life in cities, and in reducing traffic noise and urban emissions.
What are you most looking forward to during ITS WC?
I am looking forward to hearing what innovations other companies have to offer and what ITS policies and technology are being implemented by various countries and cities. I am also looking forward to giving a brief presentation on low-speed zones in urban areas. It is a trend that is becoming more common around the world and is linked to a wide range of policies. The policies aim to give cities back to their citizens and visitors, reduce the number of vehicles and parking spaces and instead promote walking, cycling and public transport. We will all benefit from these policies.
